History of the Department
Since 1975, our department focused on applied research aimed at improving behavioral health services for older adults and their families, within Florida and nationally. In recent years, our research expanded to address behavioral health issues affecting diverse and underserved populations. This emphasis supported USF's Strategic Plan, Goal III "Expanding local and global engagement initiatives to strengthen and sustain healthy communities and to improve the quality of life." Our mission was to conduct research, program evaluation, knowledge dissemination, education and consultation to address the mental health and support system needs of older adults and to address behavioral health disparities in Florida and nationally.
